Molly’s Game Review

Four years ago, Utah’s wide receiver Kaelin Clay scored a 79-yard touchdown pass in a game against #4 Oregon…until he discovered that he dropped the ball at the 2-yard line and Oregon picked it up for a 99-yard touchdown the other way. What does this have to do with Molly’s Game? Nothing outside of the fact that is exactly how I felt watching this movie.

Bright Review

I had all the reasons to skip this film but then I saw the Rotten Tomatoes score…a score that critics gave 28% and the audience gave it 87%. This sparked my interest and I realized I had to watch this to see who was in the wrong here. Given it’s been 3 weeks after Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the critics are STILL making excuses for the movie after audiences tore it to shreds, I couldn’t pass up a golden opportunity to trash RT critics or maybe even say the fans are got it wrong this time.

The Liquidator Review

It has been a while since I’ve reviewed a movie from China, the trailer for The Liquidator was enough to get me off my ass and check it out during this holiday dead zone for film. The Liquidator is a story about a criminal psychologist (Deng Chao) and a forensic fingerprint expert(Cecilia Liu) who work together to take down a serial killer known as ‘The Light Of The City” (Ethan Juan). Our lead character, Fang Mu discovers the closer he gets to finding the killer, the closer the killer is to him personally.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Review

As far as the rest of the film, Frances McDormand is great and she deserves the award recognization that she is getting. Woody Harrelson is rarely ever bad in film and he does a good job playing a questionable cop. The acting is stellar, the writing here is confusing because the narrative is completely conflicting. I was pretty conflicted myself watching this because there are things I liked and things that I hated.

Suburbicon Review

Damien Straker from Impulse Gamer has the perfect summary of this film “Suburbicon is as though Get Out was made by silly White people and it was terrible. Who the hell would want to watch that?” Judging by the box office…no one.

American Made Review

Looking to lick the wounds of The Mummy, a film that was not only a critical flop, a monetary flop (95 Million dollar loss), but it may have killed Universal’s Dark Universe before it even started. Tom Cruise is hoping everyone forgets about that film as his latest project, American Made hit theaters.

Logan Lucky Quick Review

Logan Lucky is a good movie, the cast has a great time playing their roles and it shows. The problem is the film is not very original and very clichéd. The story becomes way too convenient in order for everything to work out and takes away from the risk of the heist. That doesn’t mean you won’t have a good time watching it because you will, and perhaps you learn a thing or two about NASCAR when it’s all said and done…like why you don’t watch it.

The Prison Quick Review

The film is a throwback to classic action crime movies meaning you won’t see anything you haven’t already seen before, plus the over the top ending takes away from an otherwise enjoyable film. For all it’s ups and downs, The Prison is a middle of a road action flick for people who favor crime and corruption film.

Live by Night Quick Review

Live by Night is a film that is written by Ben Affleck, produced by Ben Affleck, directed by Ben Affleck, and starring Ben Affleck…So there is literally no one else to blame for this film being a misguided mess but him.

Hell or High Water Review

Hell or High Water is one of the best films of the year and it’s really a shame that this won’t get the mainstream cognition that it deserves. Director David Mackenzie has put himself on the map with this crime thriller and Sheridan’s writing there isn’t much more you can ask for this film.

Cold War 2 Review

Cold War 2 gets my vote for best movie of the weekend. The story can feel too complicated at times but it also shows that there are great action movies coming from the Far East side of the world.
