Nebuchadnezzar’s seven years of madness were not a random diagnosis. Daniel 4 is a literal historical record of divine judgment. The king’s heart was lifted up in pride, the Most High decreed his humiliation, and he was driven from men until he ate grass like an ox and his hair grew like eagles’ feathers (Daniel 4:30–33). From a Dispensational, literal reading, this was not a psychiatric label. It was God humbling a Gentile world-ruler until he confessed that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men. When his reason returned, he blessed the King of heaven (Daniel 4:34–37). The text ties the condition directly to God’s decree, not to chance. Not every illness is judgment. But pride, rebellion, and refusal to acknowledge God still bring a man down. Nebuchadnezzar learned it the hard way. The same God still rules, and the same Gospel still saves. Watch, open Daniel 4, and do not harden your heart.
