In Roman Catholicism, despite official denials, the Virgin Mary has been elevated to the practical role of God—the object of worship, trust, mediation, and devotion—while Jesus Christ is relegated to a distant, often subordinate figure.

This inversion fulfills the “angel of light” deception warned in 2 Corinthians 11:13–15, where Satan’s ministers appear as righteous servants, and manifests in Marian apparitions that consistently exalt Mary above Scripture. The Roman Catholic Church (RCC) is Mystery Babylon the Great (Revelation 17:5), a system drunk with the blood of saints (v. 6) and filled with abominations (v. 4–5). Its Marian dogma and practices demonstrate that Mary, not Jesus, functions as the true object of worship.

1. Mary as Mediatrix and Co-Redemptrix: Usurping Christ’s Unique Role

Official RCC teaching and papal pronouncements repeatedly place Mary as the channel of all graces and co-redeemer:

  • Vatican II (Lumen Gentium §62): “No creature… can ever as Mary be likened to the Mother of God… she is clearly the mother of the members of Christ… by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation.”
  • Pope Pius XII (1954): Mary is “the dispenser of all the gifts that Jesus has won for us.”
  • Pope Benedict XV: “With Jesus she redeemed the human race.”
  • John Paul II’s motto: Totus Tuus (“Totally Yours,” to Mary), and his coat of arms featuring Mary, not Christ.

Biblical Violation: 1 Timothy 2:5 – “There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
Mary’s claimed role steals Christ’s exclusive mediatorship (Hebrews 7:25; John 14:6). When Catholics are taught to “go to Jesus through Mary” (St. Louis de Montfort), Mary becomes the functional gatekeeper—i.e., God in practice.

2. Marian Apparitions: Demonic Entities Exalting Mary Above Christ

Every major approved apparition delivers messages that subordinate Jesus to Mary and promote fear-based devotion to her:

  • Fatima (1917): “God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart… In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.”
→ Not Christ’s cross, but Mary’s heart triumphs. Russia must be consecrated to her heart, not to Christ.
  • La Salette (1846): Mary threatens to “let go the arm of my Son” if people do not obey—making Jesus a punitive figure restrained only by Mary.
  • Lourdes (1858): “I am the Immaculate Conception” — confirming a doctrine that makes Mary sinless from conception, a privilege Scripture gives only to Christ.
  • Guadalupe, Miraculous Medal, Beauraing, Banneux: Promises of graces, conversion, and protection through medals, scapulars, and devotion to Mary—never through faith in Christ alone.

These “angels of light” (2 Cor. 11:14) consistently teach another Jesus who needs Mary’s heart, intercession, and triumph—exactly the counterfeit Paul warned against.

3. Prayer and Devotion: Mary Receives What Belongs to God Alone

  • The Rosary (dominant Catholic prayer): 53 Hail Marys vs. 6 Our Fathers. The prayer ends: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners… now and at the hour of our death”—placing Mary as judge at death, not Christ (Hebrews 9:27).
  • Act of Consecration (St. Louis de Montfort, promoted by John Paul II): “I deliver and consec_queryrate to thee… my body and soul… all that I am and all that I have… as your slave.”
  • Litany of Loreto: Mary is invoked as “Queen of Heaven,” “Gate of Heaven,” “Refuge of Sinners,” “Cause of Our Joy,” “Help of Christians”—titles Scripture reserves for God or Christ.

Biblical Violation: Isaiah 42:8 – “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another.”
Worship (latria) is officially for God alone, but hyperdulia for Mary is indistinguishable in practice—kneeling, crowns, processions, pilgrimages.

4. Mary as Functional Dispenser of Salvation

  • Pope Pius IX (Ineffabilis Deus): All graces come “through the hands of the most holy Virgin.”
  • Pope Leo XIII: “Nothing is given to us except through Mary, as God Himself wills.”
  • Catechism of the Catholic Church §969: Mary “by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation.”

When Catholics are taught that no grace comes except through Mary, she becomes the practical source of salvation—i.e., God.5. The Harlot’s Golden Cup: Mary as Babylon’s QueenRevelation 17:4–5 describes the harlot with a golden cup of abominations, titled “Mother of Harlots.” Ancient Babylonian idolatry worshipped Semiramis as “Queen of Heaven” (Jeremiah 7:18; 44:17–19). The RCC revived this exact title for Mary, spawning daughter systems (e.g., Islam’s veneration of Fatima, Mary’s “daughter” in apparitions). The harlot’s cup is the Eucharistic chalice mixed with Marian mediation—abominable because it replaces Christ’s finished work.

Conclusion: Mary, Not Jesus, Is the Object of Worship

In Roman Catholicism:

  • Jesus is the angry Judge restrained by Mary (La Salette).
  • Salvation is obtained through devotion to Mary’s Immaculate Heart (Fatima).
  • Graces flow through Mary’s hands, not directly from Christ.
  • Prayer life centers on Mary (Rosary, consecrations).
  • Apparitions—demonic “angels of light”—uniformly exalt Mary and diminish Christ.

This is the spirit of Antichrist (1 John 4:3), stealing glory from the Lamb and giving it to a creature. Isaiah 42:8 and John 14:6 are clear: God shares His glory with no one, and no one comes to the Father except through Jesus—not Mary.

True Christians must reject this system and its counterfeit goddess. Revelation 18:4 thunders: “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Trust Christ alone—the one Mediator, the only Savior, the true God.
