Mamma Mia Here We Go Again is going through Donna’s (played by Meryl Streep and Lily James) young life, experiencing the fun she had with the three possible Dad’s of Sophie (played by Amanda Seyfriend). Sophie is pregnant, and like Donna, she will be young when she has her baby. This is where he realizes she needs to take risks like her mother did.
The script is well thought out as they manage to keep things simple and interesting. Playing the rules of a game, they establish each player has only had three lives before dying and outside of one ‘heroic’ scene, don’t bend the rules of the game. This adds much-needed tension when players no longer have any room for error when it comes to survival.
The best way to describe Downsizing is that someone took an interesting concept and fumbled it at the 10-yard line. There is a movie here that the audience wants to see, but the movie we got is one nobody asked for. The only positive thing here is the performance of Hong Chau, whose humor comes from speaking in broken English. Outside of that Downsizing is a film that lost its plot the second Kristen Wiig left the film and they decided to go on for almost 2 hours after that.
Star Wars The Last Jedi is a dud, but the biggest problem here is that if Disney after buying 21st Century Fox is going to use the same filmmaking model with all of their properties that they have used for Marvel and Star Wars film, the film and television industry is heading to a (pun intended) constitutional crisis and perhaps an end of movies as we know them.
Mother! Doesn’t have a story, it is basically a series of events that happen and if you have no idea about the in your face biblical references that are being thrown on the screen, you will sit there in either a constant state of confusion or convincing yourself that the film is deeper than it actually is.
The core of this story is grief over the loss of a loved one and while the film captures the emotional pain of past choice, it doesn’t quite have the impact to be as memorable as they were hoping. With that said Amazon Studios is building a solid catalog of films as Last Flag Flying is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
A volcanic eruption threatens the remaining dinosaurs on the island of Isla Nublar, where the creatures have freely roamed for several years after the demise of an animal theme park known as Jurassic World. Claire Dearing, the former park manager, has now founded the Dinosaur Protection Group, an organization dedicated to protecting the dinosaurs. To help with her cause, Claire has recruited Owen Grady, a former dinosaur trainer who worked at the park, to prevent the extinction of the dinosaurs…again
It’s clear that unlike Stephen Colbert and Seth Myers, who get a kick out of mocking the news cycle, Kimmel gets a kick out of becoming the news cycle. Despite his ratings being the lowest of his timeslot against guys like Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel has no intentions of backing off and doesn’t care if you watch or not.
Four years after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Avengers, torn apart after the events of Captain America: Civil War, join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to battle Thanos, who is trying to collect the Infinity Stones for a gauntlet that will allow him to inflict his will on all reality.
The venom directed towards DC I believe is overblown. After Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and now Justice League, is it clear that the films have improved and while the critics are leading the backlash, the audiences have been in favor. With the said, I think Warner Bros needs to have a sit down about how to move forward with this universe.
