Yes, you read that right, the latest project from Netflix involves pre-teen girls finding their femininity through twerking…

Netflix picked up the film “Cuties” out of Sundance from director and writer Maïmouna Doucouré.

Cuties is a series about an 11 year old girl named Amy, who tries to escape family dysfunction by joining a free-spirited dance clique named “Cuties,” as they become aware of their own femininity through dance.

According to Netflix’s own description:

“Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions.

The group stands in stark contrast to her mother’s traditional values, and she soon becomes aware of her own femininity well beyond her years through dance. She soon inspires the girls to embrace more sensual dance moves as part of their routine even as she begins to face the realities of growing up, and they hope to twerk their way to stardom at a local dance contest.”

For an industry known for sexualizing kids and surround them with predators, this may be one of their boldest attempts in recent memory. As society continues to devolve and celebrate things such as Cardi B’s WAP” (an acronym for “Wet-Ass Pussy”) as empowerment for young women, you wonder if we have even seen rock bottom yeah.
