With no sports in sight, ESPN has decided to dedicate its 24-hour sports network to radical social justice, and their fanbase has fled faster than women fled the Titanic.

2 weeks ago, ESPN did its lowest viewership in the 41-year history of the network. Abandoning sports altogether, ESPN has spent the last month of their coverage on the death of George Floyd and race relations in America. These are fine topics for CNN and MSNBC but not for the worldwide leader in sports.

ESPN First Take was the highest-rated ESPN studio show all day, posting just 211,000 viewers. That was the 93rd highest-rated program on all of cable. Get Up had just 136,000 viewers on June 10th, the lowest number of viewers in the show’s history. SportsCenter all day had just 168,000 viewers, NBA: The Jump had only 112,000 viewers. Highly Questionable had just 151,000 viewers and Around the Horn had just 175,000 viewers.

ESPN then doubled down on woke with the 2020 ESPY Awards. The ESPYs crashed to the lowest viewership ever recorded with only earned 482,000 viewers over both ESPN and ESPN2 combined, making it the smallest audience the show has ever reached dating back to its inaugural awards in 1993. The previous low occurred in 2011 when 1.98 million viewers tuned in, according to Sports Media Watch. With no live sports to focus on, this year’s ESPYs were largely devoted to humanitarian and social issues…in other words, no sports.

Then ESPN tripled down on woke with The Undefeated, a Sportcenter special that sought to teach it’s audiences about white privilege.

The special drew only 100,000 viewers, the lowest in 25 years for the network. ESPN once again proves to its audience that they are a sports network that doesn’t want to talk about sports.

  1. ESPN talking about “White Privilege” is also racism. This shows Marxists are hypocrites when they think being racist towards White people is okay when racism towards any race is not. #AllLivesMatter

    1. No problem there. The theorists just changed the definition of “racism” such that you can not be racist to whichever race happens to have the most power. Which means 60 percent of the US population are now “the oppressors”. The problem is that Marxist SOP is to take from the middle class to make everybody equally poor. Short of a revolutionary race war, they’re going to have to convince that something like a third of that 60 percent that willingly reducing their standard of living is the path to utopia. That’s where “white privilege” comes in as a method of shaming the easily controlled.

  2. One of the most foolish things this country has ever done was to allow the academic establishment to fall almost completely into the hands of the marxist left. All this has followed automatically.

  3. […] its intended payoff. An excellent example of virtue signaling backfiring can be seen in the June ratings plunge of ESPN to the lowest point in the network’s 42-year history. How did they bring this about? By turning their programming into racial politics. This might not […]

  4. Dumbest thing they ever did. Even if they broadcast old tapes of the Demolition Derby or the Lumberjack Contest would of been a way better decision than to talk politics. People are sick of politics.

  5. And I suppose ESPN is saying that those who have boycotted their network did so because they’re racist. In other words, they’re probably saying, “Watch our programs about social injustice or you’re racist.”

  6. I just found out that Jamele Hill is back on ESPN. Have those idiots forgotten (perhaps conveniently) what happened the last time she worked for them? Rating tumbled because of her talking politics. Do they actually think they have nothing more to lose by bringing her back? They couldn’t be more wrong! If they think what’s happening is bad, the worst is yet to come!

  8. I used to like ESPN. I understand they want to have a political venue. That’s fine. With every thing going some times I just want to see sports. I can’t do that now. I glad I had all the years of watching sport on tv. But now I will try to find a way to listen to news. I will play catch with the kids and be happy. I will miss ESPN. Actually pretty much all TV sucks. I will just do what my parents told me treat all people better than you. It’s funny how that works. I’m 63. Years old.
