Progressive late-night host, Jimmy Kimmel wouldn’t let a pandemic get in the way of him attacking the Trump Administration, even if his attacks were outright lies cooked up by his ABC late-night show.
On Thursday night, the “comedian” posted a misleading video in which he claimed Vice President Mike Pence was delivering empty boxes of personal protective equipment to a nursing home in Virginia.
Kimmel played a short clip of VP Mike Pence saying the following with context:
“Well, can I carry the empty ones, just for the camera?”
Kimmel immediately cut off the clip and then proceeded to attack Pence for “doing nothing”.
“Mike Pence pretending to carry empty PPEs into a hospital is the perfect metaphor for who he is and what he’s doing. A big box of nothing delivering another box of nothing.” Kimmel exclaimed.
The clip from Kimmel’s show went viral as many Democrats and members of the media took his video as truth and started to spread the story online.
The problem is the story wasn’t true. Kimmel intentionally edited the video to make it seems like Pence wasn’t actually helping anyone when the full CSPAN video shows that Pence was simply joking with the rest of the officials who were unloading the supplies and the boxes were not empty.
Once people began to call him out on his lie, Kimmel was left with no choice but to issue a fake apology to Pence for spreading fake news during a pandemic. Kimmel went to Twitter to give his insincere apology after he was busted.
it would appear that @vp was joking about carrying empty boxes for a staged publicity stunt. The full video reveals that he was carrying full boxes for a staged publicity stunt. My apologies. I know how dearly this administration values truth.

Several media outlets are still spreading Kimmel’s lie as fact such as Democratic activist Matt McDermott, who accused Pence of being caught on hot mic delivering empty boxes of PPE for a PR stunt. His tweet was quickly shared tens of thousands of times and some digital outlets wrote it up with headlines blaring that Pence had been “BUSTED.” Many of these stories are still up as of this writing.
