You ready for another reboot of a popular television that is going to take aim at everyone to the political right of Bernie Sanders instead of telling a good story?

Actor and former Star Trek star Patrick Stewart said the upcoming Star Trek series Picard will tackle the world of Trump and Brexit by portraying the show’s fictional United Federation of Planets as less “trustworthy” now that right-wing governments are in charge.

Stewart is set to return in the new CBS All Access series, Star Trek: Picard for the first time in over 17 years. But Stewart told Variety that he decided to return to the role due to Britain’s decision to leave the European Union, and the US election of President Donald Trump.

Stewart, who is an executive producer of the series said:

“It was me responding to the world of Brexit and Trump and feeling, ‘Why hasn’t the Federation changed? Why hasn’t Starfleet changed?’ Maybe they’re not as reliable and trustworthy as we all thought. In a way, the world of Next Generation had been too perfect and too protected. It was the Enterprise. It was a safe world of respect and communication and care and, sometimes, fun.”

Stewart has been very vocal speaking out against both Brexit and Trump, going as far as to say that he is embarrassed by the UK for deciding to leave the European Union in a democratic election.

Woke reboots have been an aggressive trend in Hollywood recently with creators bringing back popular television shows and movies but bringing them back with a “progressive” twist such as casting a transgender teen to lead Saved By The Bell or casting an illegal immigrant family for the Party Of Five reboot.

  1. Patrick Stewart just proved he never really cared about Star Trek at all.

  2. Star Trek has, on average, become an ever increasingly left wing advert for multiculturalism. Besides the message of whatever this week’s narrative is, there is the implicit message that no matter how many tentacles you have or how young you impregnate your same sex jelly like pardner we’re all just human beings after all. Just accept it cause that’s what we’re going to be in the galactic future.
