Are you ready for woke horror films? You better be.

The 2019 remake of Black Christmas is set to release into theaters on December 13, 2019. Screenwriter April Wolfe recently took to social media to explain why the film is being changed from an R rating to a PG-13 rating and it’s not for what you think.

Wolfe explained that the film ‘needed’ to be PG-13 that way teenage girls would have access to it’s ‘timely’ message.

“Here’s the deal: We wrote it with an R in mind,” Wolfe wrote. “When they did the test screenings, it was clear that this movie needed to be available to a younger female audience because the subject matter is timely. Also, I want to indoctrinate girls into horror. Doesn’t make it any less vicious!”

Wolfe then proceeded to make comparisons to Jaws and Poltergeist in order to defend the film’s quality as a horror film but a deeper look into the film shows that the scares will be secondary when it comes to the film.

The film’s writer and director Sophia Takal told The New Yorker last month that one of her biggest challenges with the film was reflecting the ongoing struggle of the #MeToo movement.

“You can never feel like you’ve beaten misogyny,” she said. “In this movie, the women are never given a rest. They always have to keep fighting.”

Producer Jason Blum is all about creating horror films with a “message” as shown with such films as Get Out and Us.

The tagline of Black Christmas reads: One by one, sorority girls on campus are being killed by an unknown stalker…But the killer is about to discover that this generation’s young women aren’t willing to become helpless victims as they mount a fight to the finish.

  1. April Wolfe must be made of stupid. Because this so called message isn’t “timely”, it’s another outdated 2010s trend that they’re shoving down our throats. The MeToo Movement needs to end. It’s getting out of control.

  2. Ghost Busters 2016 and The Terminator Dark Fate was not enough. This ‘Go woke, go broke’ movement will have to destroy every new film for Hollywood to learn.

Also, I want to indoctrinate girls into MAN HATERS. Doesn’t make it any less vicious ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE A MALE TICKET BUYER!”
