Amazon’s Jack Ryan Blames The Collapse Of Venezuela On ‘Nationalism’ Not Socialism

Rewriting history in real-time is what makes the progressive left…the progressive left. The second season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan has been released on Amazon Prime and the plot is centered on the fall of Venezuela. Now since this show is written by Hollywood elites, there was no way they would actually tell the truth and say that the socialist policies which they all championed had anything to do with the collapse of the country. Instead, they decide to blame the situation on…right-wing nationalism.

As Amelia Hamilton from Newsbusters reports, In the first episode, “Cargo,” Jack introduces the two Venezuelan presidential candidates to a class at the CIA. A young female history teacher running on a “social justice” platform and a mean Trump-like figure running on a “nationalist” platform…guess who the show paints as a bad guy? The character of Jack then begins to explain why it was nationalism that brought down the country and not socialism.

JACK: The fact is that Venezuela is arguably the single greatest resource of oil and minerals on the planet. So why is this country in the midst of one of the greatest humanitarian crises in modern history? Let’s meet President Nicolas Reyes. After rising to power on a wave of nationalist pride, in a mere six years, this guy has crippled the national economy by half. He has raised the poverty rate by almost 400%. Luckily for the rest of us, he’s up for re-election. So, who’s running against him? This is Gloria Bonalde. Now, Gloria is a history professor turned activist. She’s running against him on a social justice and on the strength of, in my humble opinion, just not being an asshole.

For the last decade, Venezuela has been in a state of siege with a starving population, and a destroyed economy as socialist hero turned dictator Nicolas Maduro has waged literal war against his dictators in order to make his country a one-party state. While Hugo Chavez succeeded in re-writing the Venezuelan Constitution allowing the state to seize control of health care, college, private property, the oil industry (The ultimate socialist platform) it was Maduro who oversaw the fall as the country quickly ran out of funds to run all of its social programs.

Venezuela is the biggest modern-day example of socialism being tried and failing on a countrywide scale. So it’s important for the progressive left to shift the blame of their failures on the right-wing as they continue to push for the same policies that destroyed Venezuela here in the United States of America. Jack Ryan season 2 looks to be doing a great job running interference for Bolsheviks.

I’ve been a fan of the Jack Ryan novel series since I was in middle school. I was excited for about 5 minutes when this series was announce as I’ve been disappointed that they never made more movies about his stories. Some of the early ones like Hunt for Red October and the Harrison Ford films were great movies, despite the fact that they had to trim a lot of detail and story to fit it into a 2 hour movie window. But a show gave the possibility of really going into the level of realism and detail Clancy was a master of. I could not have been more disappointed with how the show ended up turning out. All of the things Clancy focused on; the technical accuracy, the minor characters having a butterfly effect that changed the story in a big way later on, consistent character motivations and ideals, the classic good vs. evil stories, etc were all things the show barely paid lip service to, if that. All of the things Clancy would have hated and never included like petty relationship drama that didn’t serve the plot, were things that the show focused on. It’s a modern TV soap opera show with a thing Tom Clancy paint job poorly smeared over it. And then of course to give Clancy one final smack in the face, they use the show to champion politics he himself was opposed to and that his characters were opposed to.

Tom Clancy was a old school traditionalist Republican. Yes he might have been more of an interventionist than we thing is a wise thing now, but in his stories while individual Americans could be bad guys or do things for the wrong reason, as a whole, America was a force for good. Individuals could be evil, institutions and government agencies could and did fail to live up to their stated ideals, but the ideals were still true and just. A CIA bureaucrat could be a self-serving, corrupt, incompetent, malicious, and petty individual, but the agency in Clancy’s world was still supposed to be fighting to protect the United States from external threats. In a way, Jack Ryan himself is almost an allegorical exemplar of what a man would look like if he actually lived and followed through with the ideals and principles he was supposed to. A CIA officer who actually took the oath seriously and followed the rules because he knew the rules were there for a reason. Jack Ryan was what such a person would look like if there were someone out there who really did walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

And the stories themselves treated the reader like an intelligent adult. Details mattered. The history of characters matters. Accuracy mattered. If a handheld radio could only transmit 700 meters in the story and a character would need it to transmit 1000 to get a message out, that character was screwed, and it was written that way because that sort of thing happens in real life. Little details like how a certain metal acts in a certain temperature, or how a certain military service trains their infantrymen to do a very specific task matters in real life and can cause or solve real world problems. We can look back at something like the FBI Miami shootout and see that the way FBI Agents were trained to reload their revolvers actually cost real lives in the real world. A Clancy story would take that information and build a thread of the story around it. A character who learned from that incident to do things better would be in a position to be quick enough in the fictional Clancy story to save the day in the end. Clancy stories took themselves seriously and they took the reader seriously. Clancy wrote in such a way where he was saying “the world is billions and billions of tiny details interacting with each other all the time. What happens when this detail is different? Let’s find out”, and he trusted the reader to get it.

The Amazon show throws all of that in the trash to bring Jack Ryan, and the rest of Clancy’s stories, characters, and ideals down into the mud. It’s a dismal and depressing mockery of what made the Jack Ryan novels such a treat to read in the first place.

This pisses me off I loved Tom Clancy’s books and liked the season 1 version of Jack Ryan. It’s almost as if the writers of this show are trying to rewrite History. Tom Clancy was known to conduct thorough and accurate research for his novels. The writers of this season of Jack Ryan appear to have done know more research than a Boam Chomsky class in college. I could barely make it through the 1st episode of season 2. Complete and utter garbage!!!

Clancy’s books were straight up conservative in viewpoint, but Hollywood re-inventing the politics therein isn’t new. Did I mention that I canceled Netflix when they decided that Obama would be part and parcel of their production team.?

Oh for the love of god, I’m so tired of Hollywood trying to push socialism into America. I swear Trump needs to investigate Hollywood. They’re push for a outdated government smells corruption to me. Tom Clancy is rolling in his grave.

  Tell me about it. Hollywood and the MSM “news”. Professor Glen Reynolds at Instapundit makes the point this is a manifestation of an ongoing class war between the “elites” in academia and media and the uppity classes below them that aren’t interested in going into the nice box where they think we belong.

Really enjoyed season 1… Barely made i through the 1st episode of Season 2… I’m done! Obviously a whole new place like Hollywood only that tells the truth always, instead of lying and subverting always, needs to be built up!
