When you are so far-left that you end up in the far-right…

IF you identify as a progressive, you can literally call for race-based segregation and instead of being called a stone-cold racist and being ‘canceled’, turns out you can get a feature column in The Atlantic

In a piece for the magazine’s October issue, far-left activist Jemele Hill insists that black athletes are doing black people no good by allowing “white colleges” to use the student’s athletes to raise funds to benefit white schools. Hill suggests that black athletes should only go to black colleges in order to keep the money for their own…you know segregation, the same thing we fought against as a country.

Hill writes:

Black athletes have attracted money and attention to the predominantly white universities that showcase them. Meanwhile, black colleges are struggling. Alabama’s athletic department generated $174 million in the 2016–17 school year, whereas the HBCU that generated the most money from athletics that year, Prairie View A&M, brought in less than $18 million. Beyond sports, the average HBCU endowment is only one-eighth that of the average predominantly white school; taken together, all of the HBCU endowments combined make up less than a tenth of Harvard’s.

She continues:

Bringing elite athletic talent back to black colleges would have potent downstream effects. It would boost HBCU revenues and endowments; stimulate the economy of the black communities in which many of these schools are embedded; amplify the power of black coaches, who are often excluded from prominent positions at predominantly white institutions; and bring the benefits of black labor back to black people.

Racial supremacists are very much against the idea of races intermingling with one another. In the 1960s, racist white people fought to have blacks segregated from white schools and in current-day America, Jemele Hill is advocating for exactly what they wanted.

  1. Putting aside her typical race baiting, after reading her actual article, am I to assume she’s under the impression that college football fans will switch allegiances and start spending their money on HBCUs if the top black athletes start going to those schools? How does someone get paid to write about sports while knowing exactly nothing about the way college football fans think? It’s not the NFL. College football fans aren’t star chasers. It won’t end the way she thinks it will.

    1. I think you’re right to an extent – OTOH, if the black college were ranked, say, in the top 5-10 there’s no doubt they’d be followed by the media and lavished money by the shoe companies. Also, black athletes are now so dominant in sports in general that if the black colleges recruited a small percentage of “affirmative action” white players there wouldn’t be much to choose from in terms of teams from “white” or “black” colleges.
