If you watched the trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate and immediately thought this was Hollywood’s latest attempt to feed it’s audience progressive feminism against their will, you were right.
Wednesday evening, an Indiewire interview with Dark Fate’s director Tim Miller confirmed that his latest movie is bound to make the same mistake films like Ghostbusters (2016), The Last Jedi, and Ocean’s 8 did. The mistake being marketing a film based on its female characters and then attacking anyone who has a problem with the quality of the film.
The Indiewire piece entitled Tim Miller Says ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Will ‘Scare the F*ck’ Out of Misogynistic Internet Trolls, confirmed that the film will essentially be an all-female reboot of the franchise and Miller wants everyone to know the film will upset “Misogynistic Internet Trolls”.
“If you’re at all enlightened, she’ll play like gangbusters. If you’re a closet misogynist, she’ll scare the fuck out of you, because she’s tough and strong but very feminine,” Miller said. “We did not trade certain gender traits for others; she’s just very strong, and that frightens some dudes. You can see online the responses to some of the early shit that’s out there, trolls on the internet. I don’t give a fuck.”
The latest Terminator film comes off the heels of the 2015 Terminator Genisys which was a critical flop and BARELY broke even at the box office. To respond from that failure with a movie that will push divisive identity politics and certainly lead to a mountain of hit pieces from ‘journalists’ who will blame imaginary internet sexists for the film’s failures with critics and audiences is simply baffling and a major reason why the box office is hurting this year compared to last.
Some argue that Miller’s statement is a preempted strike against negative fan reaction to the film as they already plan on using sexism as an excuse to why Dark Fate won’t be well received (as we saw with Ghostbusters (2016), The Last Jedi, and Ocean’s 8). Others point out the hypocrisy that Miller is claiming closet misogynists will hate a strong woman in the lead while promoting the returning Linda Hamilton aka the original Sarah Conner as a selling point of the film. Not to mention this is NOT the first time we have had a female terminator, that was done with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines which came out in 2003 to solid reviews, however, this upcoming film will retcon all movies after Terminator 2.
Hollywood’s obsession with woke reboots, progressive check boxing, and being an echo chamber for far-left politics is driving people away from cinema but the industry seems hellbent on committing seppuku before ever giving up on pushing its agenda. The strong and woke Terminator: Dark Fate will release in theaters nationwide November 1…but don’t watch it if you are bigot…
