Over the last decade, Hollywood has planted its roots in the state of Georgia due to it’s very generous tax breaks for their film projects that they can’t get in California. Far left policies have driven businesses away from the Golden State, so the far left Hollywood industry needed to find a new home. The trade-off however has been Hollywood moving their people into Georgia and slowly flipping it from a strong red state to a borderline toss up.

Hollywood has taken advantage of Georgia’s tax laws and now believe they have the right to dictate what the people and the government of Georgia can do in their state. Hollywood’s objective is to turn Georgia from a low tax haven into the high tax burden of California, the state they fled in the first place. Once again, Hollywood is sticking their noses in Georgia’s political scene and are threatening to boycott the state if they do not submit to their progressive demands. In 2019, If the state of Georgia wants to remain the home of conservative values and not become a cesspool of leftism, Governor Brain Kemp and the state must do one thing…call Hollywood’s bluff and most importantly, left them leave.

Earlier this month, The state Houses in Georgia and Tennessee passed measures that would ban most abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected usually six or seven weeks into pregnancy. In Atlanta, Georgia, the legislation passed 93-73. The bill has angered Hollywood who not only celebrate abortions, but is one of the largest fundraising arms for Planned Parenthood in the country. Now the far left activists are threatening to boycott the state if the bill passes.

On Tuesday, The Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) and the Writers Guild of America West (WGAWest) drafted a letter proposing a boycott of Georgia if the state signs HB 481 into law.

The Writers Guilds of America East and West condemn the passage of HB 481 in the Georgia State Legislature. We urge Speaker Ralston and the Georgia House of Representatives not to approve the recently passed Senate version. If they do, we urge Governor Kemp to veto the bill.
HB 481 is a draconian anti-choice measure that would in essence constitute a state-wide ban on abortion since a fetal heartbeat is usually detectable approximately six weeks into a pregnancy, before many women are aware they are pregnant or have had reasonable time to consider their options.
This law would make Georgia an inhospitable place for those in the film and television industry to work, including our members. If the Georgia Legislature and Governor Kemp make HB 481 law, it is entirely possible that many of those in our industry will either want to leave the state or decide not to bring productions there. Such is the potential cost of a blatant attack on every woman’s right to control her own body.
The cost would be most deeply felt by the residents of Georgia – including those who directly work in the film and television industry, and those who benefit from the many millions of dollars it pours into the local economy.
Governor Kemp, Speaker Ralston and the Georgia House of Representatives have it within their power to avert what is both an affront to women and potential economic harm to their constituents. They should prevent HB 481 from becoming law, not only to protect the vibrant film and television industry in their state, but because it is the right thing to do.

According to The Hill, Georgia had a record number of 455 productions in 2018, earning $49.5 billion in total economic impact. More than $2 billion in tax credits have been given out over the past decade. According to the MPAA, the film and TV industry is responsible for more than 92,100 jobs and nearly $4.6 billion in total wages in Georgia, including indirect jobs and wages. What Hollywood is doing is they are threatening Georgia to reject a bill that has the support of the State House, the State Senate, the Governor, and most importantly the people or else they will take their money and go home.

Georgia has no choice but to show Hollywood the door and there are two important reasons behind this. Hollywood (an outside force) is controlling the states’ policies and turning Georgia blue in the process. In 2016, pressure from media giants such as Disney and The NFL caused then-Governor Nathan Deal to pick the money of Hollywood and a Super Bowl in Atlanta (which sucked) over the Religious Liberty of it’s residents…that was a mistake. The choice to keep left wing companies like Disney and the NFL only caused more California leftists to pour into the state and now Georgia has become a battleground state. This was highly apparent when gun grabbing radical socialist Stacey Abrams only narrowly lost the state’s Gubernatorial election by 55,000 votes…let me run that by you again. A woman with the complete backing of Hollywood celebrities, who ran on the platform of banning all semi-automatic weapons in the state of GEORGIA (which is all of them) only lost by 55,000 votes.

In 2016, President Donald Trump only won the state by over 200,000 votes, not because conservative support is shrinking, he received more votes than any other Republican candidate in state history…it’s because Democrat support in Georgia is rapidly growing due to Hollywood’s influence in the city of Atlanta. Now Atlanta is dangerously close to controlling the entire state. Stacey Abrams received more votes in Georgia than Hillary Clinton AND Barack Obama.

As much as Hollywood would like you to believe that you need them more than they need you, that isn’t the case. Hollywood would have to find a new state to leech off of because the last thing they want to do is to move production back to Los Angeles and slash their profits. If they were to leave and take their progressives minions with them, that is a win for the residents who will no longer have their policies controlled by the likes of Disney.

Now the big part of this story is money. 49.5 billion is a lot of money to walk away from, at the same time, 2 billion dollars is a lot of money to give to a bunch of ungrateful millionaires who think they are better than your citizens. How do you fix this problem? That is where Conservative creators must step up. America is in desperate need of a conservative/libertarian alternative to Hollywood. A place where television shows and films of a right leaning perspective can thrive. Conservatives in Hollywood are too afraid to speak out about their values in fear of being blacklisted from the business. The problem is we are playing this game by the left’s rules and not our own. We desperately need conservative actors, directors, producers, show runners, writers, casting directors, etc. We need people who can provide alternative content, but more importantly to Georgia, we need people who won’t try to spite the state that they are leeching off of and condemn their politics…these are the people who deserve the tax breaks we give to Hollywood elitists not Disney and the NFL.

Republican Governor Brain Kemp has a choice to make, if HB 481 makes it to his desk and he receives pressure from Hollywood to veto or they will leave…let them go. Call their bluff because it is not Hollywood that controls Georgia, it is the people of the state. If Hollywood wants to take their ball and go home, show them the door. Then take the tax breaks you would have given to them and give them to creators who not try to undermine your state. Give it to people who will create and promote values that intersectional feminists would rage about…family, faith, life, two genders, hard work, and hell…just fun.

Hollywood’s loss could be the major gain for Georgia. But that only happens if states like Georgia and Tennessee say ‘enough is enough’ and force them back to their blue state hellholes. Three years ago, Georgia made the wrong choice and it cost them, don’t repeat the same mistake. Make HB 481 law, show California the door, and encourage conservatives to come out of the closet and create art the state would be proud. Brian Kemp won office on being the politically incorrect conservative…it’s time to prove it.

  2. How large liberal cities control the politics of mainly rural states is something that needs to be recognized more fully. Hopefully, Georgia has the equivalent of a “Senate” where each county has one equal vote. Of course, that didn’t save California once large areas were occupied by illegals and eastern leftists, but at least it can slow the process down. Ultimately, a future priority for conservatives and libertarians alike is to cap the size of all cities at something well under a million. Small dispersed cities can work just as effectively due to the internet and are generally more conservative.

  5. I was born and raised in Georgia and proud Christian conservative woman, grand daughter of a Pentecostal Church of God preacher and an army veteran. Hollywood can go back to it to California and stay. We are not afraid of SJW, antifa or liberals. We stand firm in our beliefs. I raised my sons to be respectful God fearing men and to speak their minds and defend themselves. Don’t come here thinking you can bully us into socialism because we will fight back and defend our constitution and the 10 commandments. I am proud of Gov. Kemp and POTUS Trump and I’ll vote for them again proudly.
