UPDATE: Despite news of the show’s cancellation, Creator Diane English is pleading that her show is still waiting for approval for a second season to be ordered by CBS.
Just one day after it was announced that CBS will not be picking up the Anti-Trump revival of Murphy Brown for a second season, the show premieres its latest episode which fantasies about Trump supporters beating up reporters at one of his rallies.
In the episode, the character of Frank Fontana is sent to a Trump rally to report live on the event. During the event, a fake version of Trump singles out “fibbing Frank Fontana”. The crowd boos him and then proceeds to attack him so badly, he ends up in the hospital. The character claims as he was going to interview people, a sea of ‘red hats’ surrounded him and jumped him. He then proceeds to say he doesn’t feel safe living in Trump’s America. “If this is the way it’s going to be, I’m not so sure I want to do it anymore. It’s a different profession. No one would ever call Huntley or Brinkley enemies of the people.”
Later on in the episode, another reporter finds the woman who took the first swing at Fontana and asks her, “How can you punch someone for simply doing their job?” The woman says “He’s fake news. He’s the enemy of the people.”
The reporter replies. “He was just there to cover the rally. That is what the free press does. That’s what separates a democracy from a dictatorship. Or maybe a dictatorship is what you’d prefer.” Then the woman punches him, too.
The episode, as well as the show, is just another example of how delusional progressive writers and producers view the world we live in under Trump. In reality, not one reporter has even been attacked by a Trump Supporter on the streets or at a rally. The worse treatment a reporter received at a rally was Jim Acosta who barely escaped with his life after the crowd began chanting ‘CNN Sucks’ around him…
The episode is not just a window to how much Hollywood hates Trump but how much they hate ANYBODY who supports him. Like many ‘comedy’ shows presented by the left, it spends so much time stewing in its own hatred of conservatives, you forget what you are watching is supposed to make people laugh.
Murphy in the course of its revival has viciously attacked Trump, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, ICE Agents, and they are now going after Trump Supporters themselves. It is really no surprise that the show was canceled due to low ratings but with one last episode left to go on the season, you have to wonder how low they will go on their way out. Don’t be shocked next week to see the world of Murphy Brown go all in with a Trump led Nazi Nuclear Holocaust that affects women and minorities the most…or at the very least impeachment.
