UPDATE: NBC has officially canceled Megyn Kelly Today
Former Fox News host and current NBC host Megyn Kelly made some comments about Halloween that upset progressives so much that now her show is on the verge of being pulled and the host is on the verge of being blacklisted from the industry.
On what seemed like an innocent conversation on Tuesday during her show Megyn Kelly Today about the so-called ‘blackface’ in Halloween costumes, Kelly shook up the world when she asked: “But what is racist?” Kelly asked. “Because you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid that was OK, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character.”
and the media lost it…
The heat for her comments was fast and severe, and it doesn’t look like the backlash is over. In a report from The Hollywood Reporter Talent agency CAA is no longer representing Megyn Kelly after she made her comments on the show and speaking of her show, it may be over. CNN is reporting that Kelly’s show “will be ending” and she is unlikely to return because “negotiations about the end date and other details are still underway.” Variety has reported that Kelly and NBC had been discussing other roles for her at the network as she still has a three year, 69 Million dollar contract with the network. Kelly has since apologized but that means nothing to the outrage mob.
Kelly has always been a target of progressives due to her past at Fox News and many are seeing this as an opportunity to get rid of her due to her politics similar to what happened to Roseanne earlier in the year. NBC News President Andy Lack condemned Kelly’s remarks at a staff meeting. “I assume all of you by now have seen the remarks that Kelly made on her show yesterday about Halloween and blackface. There is no other way to put this but I condemn those remarks, there is no place on our air or in this workplace for them. Very unfortunate,”
Kelly lawyers are expected to meet with NBC on Friday to discuss her future with the network.
