Roseanne Without Roseanne Doesn’t Draw…The Conners Down 35% From Last Year

The ratings are in…and they are exactly what many people expected…a mass exodus.

Six months after Roseanne Barr was fired and blacklisted for a Tweet comparing Valerie Jarrett to someone from Planet of the Apes. ABC decided to continue her hit show without her and the ratings are out.  The Conners drew a 7.5 rating/12 share, off about 35 percent from the 11.6/19 for Roseanne‘s premiere in March. It was Tuesday’s second highest-rated show in metered markets, behind NCIS (8.1/13). The show confirmed that they had killed off the Roseanne via an opioid overdose.

There were rumblings last week that ABC may have regretted their hasty decision to fire the comedienne from the show with internal feelings that the show would not be well received without her.

‘We didn’t think it through properly. What Roseanne did was wrong but we shouldn’t have rushed to fire her. It was almost a knee-jerk reaction by Ben Sherwood and Channing Dungey who should have launched an investigation,’ one insider said.

How much longer the show will stay on the air depends on how many people will continue to watch now that Roseanne is officially done.

well duh. It was her sarcastic, blunt “say whatever, I dont care what you think” humor that made the show in the first place.
