Earlier this morning, it was reported that Henry Cavill would not be reprising his role as Superman in Warner Bros.’ DCEU films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, WB had been trying to enlist Cavill for a Superman cameo in Shazam!, which stars Zachary Levi due out next spring, but contract talks between Cavill’s WME reps and Warners broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances.

Now the studio has stepped in and said the story of Cavill leaving is not true. Moments ago in an official statement, Warner Bros says no plans have been made about future Superman films, thus indicating that Henry Cavill is still on board as Superman.

“While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”

This news comes shortly after Cavill’s agent Dany Garcia, claimed on social media that the actor wasn’t leaving the role.

Warner Bros has been looking to make dramatic changes to the DCEU after it’s big project Justice League disappointed at the box office and barely broke even for the company. There have also been rumors that Ben Affleck will be recast as Batman as the actor’s personal troubles have been a major distraction from the potential Batman solo film project with director Matt Reeves. It also looks like Jared Leto will not be welcomed back to reprise his role as The Joker. DC will be moving forward with Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, and Erza Miller on their respective superhero solo films.
