Dave Bautista has been busy making headlines over the fact that James Gunn remains fired from Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol .3 for resurfaced rape & pedophilia jokes on Twitter. Yesterday the former wrestler turned actor posted this message on Twitter stating
“I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for,” Bautista said. “GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That’s just how I feel.”
Well, now Dave has taken an even bigger stance against the company stating he will quit if James Gunn’s script is not used for the third film. In an interview with Shortlist Bautista said that the key for him is the script, which Gunn turned a finalized version in for before he was fired. “Where I’m at right now is that if Marvel don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me,” he said. “I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”
He also acknowledged that the cast’s open letter and other voices of support are not likely to sway Disney to bring Gunn back behind the camera, noting, “I don’t think [it] will get him re-hired. But I hope it opens people’s eyes to James’ character.”
James Gunn was fired from Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3 after over 10,000 tweets about rape & pedophilia resurfaced. Last week, the cast of the film wrote an open letter demanding that he be rehired but Disney is balking at the idea of bringing him back. Gunn was the one who gave Bautista more scenes and lines and was the one who cast him in the Guardians Franchise. Both James Gunn and Dave Bautista are also very vocal critics of President Donald Trump and often call him and his supporters ‘Nazis’ which may explain why they have such a close relationship. Disney has not yet responded to Dave’s comments or whether they will continue with Gunn’s script.
