Luke Skywalker is dead…Han Solo is dead…Carrie Fisher is dead…is Billy Dee Williams the guy to save Star Wars: Episode IX? Billy Dee Williams will return as Lando Calrissian in the newest Star Wars film. The Hollywood Reporter reported the following Monday night:

Billy Dee Williams is returning to a galaxy far, far away.

The actor, who famously played the galactic gambler Lando Calrissian, will reprise the role for Star Wars: Episode IX, the next Star Wars installment from Lucasfilm.

Chatter about Williams joining the production, which is set to begin later this summer, increased in recent days when the actor bowed out of an upcoming sci-fi and pop culture convention citing a conflict with a movie schedule.

While Lando Calrissian is undoubtedly a big-time fan favorite in the Star Wars universe, the question is will his return be enough to turn the tide for Disney’s Star Fans or is it too little too late? Considering how Lucasfilm and Disney have treated the legacy characters to this point, do you even want to see Lando return to this universe? I mean they already have rewritten his character to be pansexual. Will his death be the final nail in the Star Wars Legacy?

  I was not referring to the Gambino version of the character, I meant the original Billy Dee verision.

Let’s see. Is he going to still be having sex with a toaster in the new movie?

And why bring him back? I thought the whole point was to kill off and get rid of the original characters anyway? They were very clear about that.

I mean, I’m glad the guy is getting a paycheck, but there’s simply no reason for him to be in the film. I mean who cares? It’s not like he’s cool as ice Billy D from the old days, last I saw him in a Star Wars parade he was a fat grandpa.

Still won’t buy any tickets, and I like the guy.
