Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy director James Gunn is blaming the tragic Capital Gazette newsroom shooting in Annapolis, Maryland on President Donald Trump, even despite the facts of the case that has been released. Gunn who is known for using Twitter to make numerous political rants calling Donald Trump a Nazi among other things, took his hatred of Trump to a new level by blaming him for the shooting that led to the death of five people. Gunn used a screenshot of a 2015 Tweet of the suspected killer in which he says the ‘referring to Trump as unqualified could end badly’. This was enough evidence for Gunn to call the killer a “Trump fan” and blame the entire shooting on the president.

When called out on his narrative, the Disney director doubles down.

And then tripled down

While many in the media and even more on the left will point the finger at Trump for this shooting, the facts of the case tell a different story. According to the Washington Times, the killer had a personal grudge with the paper going back to 2011. It had been reported by the Capital Gazette in 2011 that the killer had pleaded guilty to criminal harassment and he sued the paper for defamation in 2012.

Prince George’s Circuit Court Judge Maureen M. Lamasney dismissed the claim, at which the killer represented himself, saying that the article was entirely based on public records and that he had no factual rebuttal to it.

“A lawyer would almost certainly have told him not to proceed with this case,” the Maryland Court of Special Appeals wrote in a 2015 opinion upholding the dismissal. “It reveals a fundamental failure to understand what defamation law is and, more particularly, what defamation law is not.”

The Killer’s Twitter feed boils over with resentment against the Capital Gazette and Maryland officials.

The feed’s header photo included an insert photo of Philip Merrill, noting that the former president and CEO of Capital Gazette died in 2006.

At the edge of the photo is the caption “Everybody knows the stupid court of appeals are assholes … but at least they’re pleasant assholes.”

Baltimore Sun reporter Erin Cox wrote on Twitter on Thursday night, based on an interview with Mr. Marquardt that in 2013 “he said, ‘I remember telling our attorneys, “This is a guy who is going to come in and shoot us”.’ Marquardt said he considered a restraining order and asked police to intervene.”

The reality of this case is that the killer’s motives had nothing to do with Trump or his ‘attacks’ on the press. This was an individual who had it out for this specific newspaper for years due to the way he felt they represented him. But those facts don’t matter to James Gunn because he wants it to be true. He wants to blame Trump for a mass murder that had nothing to do with him because that is how much the far left especially in Hollywood hates Trump. Before the name of any victim was even released, this was Trump’s fault simply because they wanted it to be. Gunn is currently finishing the script to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which Marvel and Disney is set to release in 2020.

  2. Something tells me it won’t be long before Marvel goes the way of present day Lucasfilms. Most likely after the 2nd part of Infinity Wars is done.

    1. Yeah, everything i’ve heard about phase IV of the MCU screams the beginning of SJW Marvel in films. Expect alot more rants from James Gunn, especially since GOTG 3 comes out in 2020.

  3. I like his work. I feel like social media can bring out the worst in people, but why do you need to triple down? You should realize, if not after the first, then after the second tweet that maybe you should calm down and not let your emotions get the better of you.

    1. For guys like Gunn, there is no consequence for spewing this kind of crap because he is in an industry where everyone agrees with him and he is never challenged.

  4. […] he largely spent his time calling Trump and his supporters ‘Nazis’, blaming him for mass shootings, calling people like Ben Shapiro ‘assholes’ and more. None of this bothered anyone in […]
