Marvel Studios producer Kevin Feige recently spoke to BBC Arabic’s Husam Asi, and Feige revealed that Marvel Studios has plans for the Kamala Khan to join the MCU after Captain Marvel is introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Feige stated, “We’re doing Captain Marvel right now. Captain Marvel‘s shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort-of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.”

Kamala Khan assumed the role of a superhero. Khan is a Pakistani-American who underwent Inhuman Terrigenesis after being exposed to Inhuman Terrigen Mists. She now has the ability to stretch her limbs and also grow and shrink in size. She then took on the role of Ms. Marvel after Carol Danvers took on the name of “Captain.

There will definitely be some mixed feelings about this because this is really the first true sign of getting ‘SJW Marvel’ characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The culture war of comic book has been well documented on this site. Over the last five years, Marvel Comics under the control of progressive creators has heavily promoted Ms. Marvel, due to her being a Muslim character. While the marketing machine behind this character has been huge, even making the character the President of the United States in a recent issue of All-New Wolervine (That’s female Wolervine, not Logan if you were wondering) the actual popularity of the character hasn’t been reflected with readers yet.

The current run of Ms. Marvel comics only sells less than 15,000 units on average a month putting her just outside the top 150 comics on the monthly chart. For reference, the top-selling Marvel title, Amazing Spider-Man does over 233,000 units a month. While she isn’t a hit with fans, she is a hit for the brass at Marvel who will likely use her to shoot for representation brownie points with critics.

What do you feel about Ms. Marvel (The New One, not the blonde who looks like a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader) possibly being added to the MCU and does this more you more or less excited about the MCU’s future after Avengers 4 comes out next year?

I guess she probably is the most popular one, aside from maybe Miles. Miles would confuse mainstream audiences because Spiderman is so well known.

  3. I know nothing about SJW Marvel, I tend to stay out of it. If I want a story discussing diversity, I’ll read Green Lantern.
