Wilson is the story of a lonely and depressed middle-aged man played by Woody Harrelson trying to discover a sense of purpose in his life after his father passes away and he realizes that he has no legacy whatsoever. After reuniting with an old love, he discovers that he has a daughter that his ex-wife didn’t abort 17 years ago. Viewing life in a new light, Wilson desperately tried to build a connection with his biological daughter in an attempt to build a family, the problem is, he seems to be the only person who wants one.

The biggest problem with Wilson is the fact that Harrelson’s character isn’t peculiarly likable and the film is under the impression that surrounding him with even more unlikable people will sway him into audiences’ hearts. What you get is a bunch of selfish clowns, one-upping each other in the scumbag Olympics. Halfway through the film, you are left with no one to root for after everyone in Wilson’s life abandons him and leaves him holding the bag with a three-year prison sentence. After this massive dick move, the film then continues to stroll along for 25 minutes, leaving you to wonder “What exactly is this film trying to accomplish?” Unless the answer is to depress the crap outta you, it has failed at its job. Harrelson himself carries the film being the only character you don’t want to punch in the face and even then you want to punch him in the face. Wilson is a downer project that isn’t nearly as funny as it thinks it is. A Drinking game without the game brings more humor than this film.
